Diwali celebrations start today

KARACHI:

Like the rest of the country, the Hindu community in Karachi will celebrate their religious festival Diwali today, Monday. According to social leader and scholar Professor Dr Manoj Chauhan, the main Diwali celebration will be held at the Governor House, with Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori attending as chief guest.

The event will include a ceremonial cake-cutting and pooja for Pakistan's peace and prosperity. Professor Manoj Kumar shared that special prayers and festivities have been organized at various temples across Karachi, especially at the Swami Narayan Temple.

He shared that Diwali, also known as Deepavali, marks the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. On this occasion, Hindu households will light traditional clay lamps, decorate with rangoli, and exchange sweets and gifts with loved ones. Fireworks displays are also planned at several locations. In a gesture of interfaith harmony, members of other communities are expected to join the celebrations and extend their warm wishes. The Hindu community has completed all preparations for the festival, ready to welcome Diwali with joy and unity.

Bilawal's message

On the joyous occasion of Diwali, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended heartfelt greetings to the Hindu community in Pakistan and around the world.

In a statement issued by the Bilawal House Media Cell, he said Diwali reminds us that light always triumphs over darkness, and truth, peace, and love prevail over hatred and division. He reaffirmed PPP's commitment to building a progressive and inclusive Pakistan, inspired by the vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, where people of all faiths live with dignity and harmony.
