ISLAMABAD:

A petition seeking to bar Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri from judicial work over an alleged fake degree was scheduled to be taken up by an Islamabad High Court (IHC) division bench led by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar on October 21.

However, according to the judges' duty roster issued by the registrar's office on Friday, no bench will be available next week to hear Justice Jahangiri's case.

The registrar's office has, therefore, cancelled the case from the cause list and posted notice of the hearing's cancellation on the IHC's official website.

On September 16, the IHC division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Azam Khan stopped Justice Jahangiri from performing his duties as it took up a petition accusing the judge of holding a dubious LLB degree.
