Extraction: Taigo serves as a spin-off of Netflix’s successful Extraction franchise, originally starring Chris Hemsworth. However, the new film will focus entirely on a Korean narrative, with no confirmed appearance from Hemsworth’s character, Tyler Rake. The spin-off is reportedly a part of Netflix’s broader push to expand its global franchises with regionally produced content and internationally recognized stars.
The film will be directed by Lee Sang-yong, best known for helming The Outlaws 2 and The Outlaws 3, and stars veteran action actor Ma Dong-seok (also known internationally as Don Lee) alongside Lee Jin-wook. Ma is set to portray Taigo, a mercenary on a high-stakes mission to rescue a kidnapped teammate. Lee Jin-wook is reportedly playing a rival character, hinting at a layered, tension-filled storyline.
Production is reportedly scheduled to begin in mid-October 2025, shortly after Korea’s Chuseok holiday, and will wrap by mid-January 2026. The screenplay is written by Cha Woo-jin, with production being handled by Big Punch Pictures, B&C, and Nova Film. Ma Dong-seok is also credited as a producer through his own company, Big Punch Pictures.
Lisa’s rumored casting comes shortly after her acclaimed acting debut in Season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus. She recently signed with U.S. talent agency WME to further pursue opportunities in film and television. Additionally, she launched her own label, LLOUD, to manage her solo ventures in music and entertainment.
Although Netflix has yet to confirm Lisa’s involvement in Extraction: Taigo, the buzz surrounding her potential role has sparked significant anticipation, with fans excited to see her transition from global pop icon to rising film star.
