Pakistan hold India to 3-3 draw in Sultan of Johor Cup 2025
Players from both sides exchanged handshakes in a rare show of sportsmanship after the recent cricket tensions

In the ongoing 13th Sultan of Johor Cup 2025 being played in Johor, Malaysia, the thrilling match between traditional rivals Pakistan and India ended in a 3–3 draw.
For Pakistan, the first goal was scored through a penalty stroke, while the other two goals came via penalty corners. The first goal was netted in the 5th minute by Captain Hannan Shahid, while Mohammad Sufyan Khan scored the second and third goals in the 39th and 55th minutes, respectively.
For India, Arjit, Anand, and Manmeet Singh each scored one goal. India was also awarded a penalty stroke. Overall, Pakistan earned 6 and India 9 penalty corners. Pakistan successfully converted two of its penalty corners into goals and scored one via penalty stroke, while India failed to capitalize on any of its penalty corners.
Araijeet Singh Hundal converted a penalty stroke in the 43rd minute, followed by goals from Sourabh Anand Kushwaha (47’) and Manmeet Singh (53’), giving India the lead for the first time.
Pakistan refused to give up, and in the 55th minute, Sufyan Khan scored his second goal from another penalty corner to level the match 3-3. Both teams pushed hard in the dying minutes but had to settle for a draw.
The fiercely contested fixture ended on a positive note as Indian and Pakistani players shook hands after the final whistle, a gesture of sportsmanship following the recent cricketing tensions between the two nations.
Mohammad Sufyan Khan was declared the Man of the Match.
India remain unbeaten in the tournament and will face Australia next.
The Pakistan Junior Hockey Team will play its fourth match against New Zealand on October 15, and the fifth match against Australia on October 17.
