ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Monday announced the postponement of "Aatish", an exhibition of ceramic works by distinguished artist Nabahat Lotia, owing to unforeseen circumstances.

Originally scheduled to open today (Tuesday) at Gallery No 3, National Art Gallery, the exhibition was to be inaugurated by renowned visual artist Jamal Shah.

A new date for the opening will be announced in due course.

Curated by Mariam Ahmed, "Aatish" explores the transformative power of clay and fire—central themes that have shaped Nabahat Lotia's artistic journey spanning several decades. The exhibition presents a remarkable collection of ceramic works that embody her deep connection with nature and her mastery of form, texture, and process.

Lotia draws profound inspiration from nature, which she describes as the guiding force behind her creative evolution. With over 30 years of experience and 18 solo exhibitions, she has worked closely with traditional potters across Pakistan to preserve and revitalise indigenous pottery traditions.

Her recent publication, "Pottery Traditions of Pakistan," chronicles this enduring engagement and reflects her lifelong commitment to cultural heritage.
