A man accused of sexually abusing multiple children was injured when a pistol tucked into his waistband accidentally discharged as police moved to arrest him.
The suspect, identified as Saleem Iqbal, a resident of Jahanian, is now under police guard at the local Civil Hospital.
Police said three separate cases were already registered against Saleem Iqbal at the Jahanian Police Station.
The first incident reportedly occurred on August 20, when the suspect allegedly abducted an 11-year-old boy, Junaid, son of Safdar. Posing as a friend of the boy's father, Iqbal lured the child onto his motorcycle.
He then took him to a deserted area and attempted to assault him. The accused fled when the boy began screaming.
The second attempt took place on September 29, 2025. The target was a 7-year-old girl, Sabiha Noor, daughter of Mudassar, who was going to a grocery shop. Using the same ruse, Iqbal convinced her to ride on his motorcycle.
A third case was registered for an incident on September 15, 2025. The suspect allegedly targeted an 11-year-old boy, a resident of Ghareeb Abad.
