
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has praised the health department's performance during the recent flood, noting that 1.15 million people had been treated in the affected areas across the province.
The chief minister was informed during a briefing that 174 people had been bitten by snakes in the flood-affected areas and the lives of all the victims had been saved by administering them vaccines in relief camps.
She expressed gratitude for saving the lives through timely treatment.
She also said,"Punjab has set a record in cervical cancer vaccination, taking the lead over other provinces." She said 6.5 million girls had been vaccinated. The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure completion of the cath labs project as soon as possible.
She said community health inspectors had obtained data of 32,000 houses in the pilot phase, stressing that the homes of citizens with special needs should be reached and a practical method devised for providing them assistance. She directed the departments concerned to collaborate to complete the data of special people across the province. She directed the special education department to formulate a project for the welfare and education of special people.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered that 1,115 electric buses should be plying on their routes in Punjab by December. She directed the deputy commissioners to take steps to establish electric bus charging stations at the earliest.
She noted, "Uniform design of electric bus stops across Punjab has been approved, while electro buses have set records of popularity in a short period of time."
She said a target had been set to establish Water and Sanitation Agencies in 25 districts of Punjab by December 31. She added that more than 5,000 water filtration plants had been made functional across the province, and sought a timeline for the completion of the rest of the projects.
