A four-year-old tweet from an Ariana Grande fan has resurfaced after Taylor Swift released her new album The Life of a Showgirl on October 3. Listeners quickly noticed that one of the tracks, “Wood,” appears to echo a joke made online in 2021.
The original post, made on June 28 2021 by X user @bigduaenergy, poked fun at Swift’s lyrical style at the time.
swifties when ariana sings about sex and doesn’t write it like “he stuck his long wood into my redwood forest and let his sap ferment my roots” https://t.co/8St4lorbPk

The comment highlighted the contrast between Grande’s direct approach to intimacy in her music and Swift’s more metaphorical writing style, particularly around the releases of Folklore and Evermore.
Swift’s new track “Wood,” one of the more explicit songs on The Life of a Showgirl, makes use of the redwood imagery mentioned in the tweet.
In the lyrics, she sings: “Redwood tree, it ain't hard to see / His love was the key that opened my thighs.” The line has led fans to label the 2021 post as a strikingly accurate prediction.
Following the album’s release, posts comparing the lyrics to the fan’s original tweet went viral on X, with one user simply writing: “she did it omg.”
Others joked about royalties, with comments such as “Your lawyers better be working overtime” and “wait is this guy getting writing credits or.”
Some users also shared screenshots showing they had already linked the upcoming song title “Wood” to the viral tweet when the album’s tracklist was revealed in August.
The original poster, however, has not commented on the coincidence, as their account has been inactive since March 2025.
