RAWALPINDI:

A citizen who was allegedly subjected to inhuman treatment and torture by influential individuals in Dhamial police jurisdiction has appealed to the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi, Babar Sarfraz Alpa, for justice and protection, citing gaps in the FIR registered against the accused.

According to details, the victim, Mahmood Akhtar, told police on August 12 that he was sitting in his car near Kotha Mor Stop when another vehicle carrying five men approached. The suspects allegedly beat him with iron rods, sticks, fists, and kicks, leaving his lips and teeth injured. One of the men reportedly pulled out a pistol, held it to his head, dragged him onto the road, and forced him to mimic the sound of a dog. Bystanders intervened to rescue him.

Police registered a case after conducting a medical examination. However, nearly a month later, the suspects remain on interim bail.

In his application to the RPO, Mahmood Akhtar complained that despite the degrading and inhumane treatment, police did not include charges related to violation of human dignity in the FIR. He requested that the relevant sections be added to the case and that he be given protection.

Taking notice of the complaint, RPO Rawalpindi appointed SSP Investigation as the inquiry officer and sought a detailed report.
