Netflix has released the first trailer for People We Meet on Vacation, the highly anticipated adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestselling novel.
Starring Emily Bader and Tom Blyth, the romantic drama will premiere globally on the streaming platform on January 9, 2026.
The story follows childhood best friends Poppy (Bader) and Alex (Blyth), who despite living in different cities, reunite every summer for a shared vacation. Over time, the pair begin to question whether their close friendship could be the foundation of something deeper, testing the balance of their long-standing bond.
The cast includes several notable names: Sarah Catherine Hook (The White Lotus), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), Lucien Laviscount (Emily in Paris), Lukas Gage (You), Miles Heizer (13 Reasons Why), Tommy Do (Hacks), Alice Lee (The Union), Alan Ruck (Succession), and Molly Shannon (Private Life).
Director Brett Haley described the film as more than just a romance, telling Tudum: “It makes you feel like you’ve gone on vacation right alongside Poppy and Alex.” Author Emily Henry expressed confidence in the casting, noting that Bader and Blyth capture the essence of her beloved characters: “I truly could not feel more confident that my readers—and so many more people who don’t even know about the book—are going to fall in love with Poppy and Alex.”
Produced by Sony Pictures’ 3000 Pictures, which previously worked on Where the Crawdads Sing and Lady Chatterley’s Lover, the adaptation marks another high-profile book-to-screen project for Netflix.
With its mix of heartfelt storytelling and a star-studded cast, People We Meet on Vacation is positioned as one of Netflix’s most anticipated romantic releases of 2026.
