Taylor Swift playfully poked fun at herself in a promotional video for The Life of a Showgirl: The Crowd is Your King Edition on Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer Vinyl, ahead of the album’s Oct. 3 release.
In the video, Swift takes on dual roles as director and showgirl. As director, she critiques her own performance: “Alright we are still rolling. We’re elegant, we’re luxurious, we’re in front of the most beautiful pink vinyl we’ve ever seen. What is going on with the posture? It’s giving no-girl, not showgirl.”
Showgirl Taylor, dressed in a pink leotard and matching heels, awkwardly poses while showcasing the Target-exclusive vinyl. Director Taylor yells, “Elegance. Charm. Not that,” and off-screen whispers, “She’s got cat hair all over her.”
The clip ends with Showgirl Taylor posing with a poster for the album while accidentally knocking over paint buckets, alongside the caption, “She’s got four days left to rehearse for her big moment.”
The twelfth studio album offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at Swift’s Eras Tour persona. Speaking on the New Heights podcast with fiancé Travis Kelce, she said the album “comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in my life” and reflects the exuberance of her tour.
Fans have also spotted Easter eggs in her promotional rollout, from color-coordinated outfits matching the album cover to subtle nods to her favorite number, 13. Speculation about possible collaborations with Lady Gaga and Sabrina Carpenter has only heightened excitement.
