PPP's Aitzaz calls for Imran's release

LAHORE:

Veteran lawyer and politician Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan has called for the immediate release of former prime minister Imran Khan, declaring that all cases against him were "false".

Addressing a ceremony held in his honour at the Lahore High Court, Ahsan urged his own party (PPP) to recognize this reality that no political group would gain any distinction over PML-N.

Enemies' virtues should be acknowledged, and friends' flaws should be overlooked. All political parties have to move forward together in this country, he said, stressing the need for reconciliation rather than confrontation.

Reflecting on past struggles, Ahsan recalled how lawyers stood up for deposed judges, urging them not to take oath under military rule, and pledged support for jurists such as Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Babar Sattar, Justice Saman Imtiaz, and Ejaz Ishaq Khan.
