ISLAMABAD:

The book titled 'Sanson ki Khairat' (Charity through Breaths) by advocate Mian Muhammad Tariq Batah a received huge appreciation from the audience present at its launch ceremony at Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) Rawalpindi hall where several members of the bar were in attendance on Wednesday.

A sensitive yet critical discussion in the book exposes how unlawful practices in organ trade have violated human dignity, exploited the poor and created a black market. It also stresses the legal, social and state responsibilities to curb the menace. A dedicated section emphasises how even after death, a person's organs can grant new life to others.

The author serves as assistant director legal with Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority (PHOTA) Rawalpindi. He shared that the idea of his book for Charity through Breaths occurred to him after he had a bitter experience in Multan where he was serving PHOTA, where a private welfare hospital offering free deliveries to deserving mothers was involved in illegal kidney transplants. He narrated that some 300 women admitted for childbirth had lost their kidneys in the welfare hospital. "I decided to highlight the true spirit of human kindness and raise awareness against the cruelty of illegal kidney transplants," he said.

The author explained that Charity of Breaths is a practical manifesto of humanitarian service. Its central message is that the greatest wealth of a human being is his breath and when these breaths are dedicated to saving the lives of others, it becomes the truest form of charity.
