Black Ops 7 is bringing back and upgrading the body shield mechanic from BO6—with an explosive twist. This time, players can turn enemies into walking bombs by attaching a grenade to them and sending them straight into their teammates.
On September 22, we got our first in-depth look at Black Ops 7’s multiplayer ahead of the full gameplay reveal at CoD Next. The showcase highlighted returning features like the Overclock system and various launch maps, but also dropped a few surprises.
Among the most entertaining reveals was the new Grenade Body Shield Finisher. In previous games, using a human shield either ended with them being shot by their own squad or simply let go. Now, Treyarch has added a far more explosive conclusion.
Once you've grabbed an enemy, you can activate a finisher that slaps a live grenade onto their back before kicking them forward—turning them into a deadly projectile. After a short delay, the grenade detonates, taking out the shield and anyone else caught in the blast.
While this mechanic is sure to create some hilarious trolling moments, it also opens up new tactical options. Players can now push through open areas while using human shields not just for cover, but also as offensive tools to disrupt enemy positions.
The original body shield mechanic was already a favorite among players looking to humiliate opponents. Now, with the ability to blow them up in front of their squad, Treyarch has taken that humiliation to the next level.
