
A young man was killed in Faisalabad after a cricket dispute turned deadly on Sunday.
The incident occurred in village 47-GB, Sainsra, within the jurisdiction of Tarkhani police station, where a quarrel broke out between two groups of youngsters during a cricket match.
The altercation escalated, leading one group to open fire and injure Waseem.
He was rushed to the hospital after receiving initial treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
Police reached the spot, took custody of the body, shifted it for post-mortem, and began a search operation to arrest the attackers.
Officials stated that what began as a minor quarrel in the ground intensified into a fatal shooting.
Fresh statistics revealed that Faisalabad district has witnessed a disturbing rise in violent incidents this year. Between January 1 and September 2025, a total of 240 people have been killed across the district in cases linked to enmities, personal rivalries, and old disputes.
In these cases, police records show that 811 suspects were nominated.
Of the total, 85 cases were fully challaned and submitted before the courts, while 95 cases were forwarded with incomplete challans.
In 12 cases, challans were sent under Section 512 in the absence of the accused. Two cases were dismissed and 34 investigations remain pending.
