Police in Tiba Sultanpur claimed to have solved the blind murder case of a man, arresting his wife and her alleged paramour, for orchestrating the plan.
DSP Saeed Ahmed Sial said Abdul Majeed, a resident of Chakliar, was shot and injured by an unidentified assailant on May 5 while returning home from the market.
The attacker fled the scene. Majeed was initially shifted to the Rural Health Centre, Tiba Sultanpur, and later to Nishtar Hospital, Multan, where he succumbed to his injuries three days later.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Using human intelligence and call records, the investigators found evidence pointing to Majeed's wife, Shazia Hassan. During interrogation, it was revealed that Shazia was using two SIM cards in her mobile phone - one for family contacts and another to stay in touch with Mushtaq, her neighbour and alleged lover, with whom she had been in contact for two years.
Their relationship had reportedly reached a point where they decided to eliminate Abdul Majeed.
