Authorities have identified the body discovered earlier this month inside an impounded Tesla registered to singer D4vd as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, a girl who had been reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California, in April 2024.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Rivas was identified through forensic methods. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing. Her remains were discovered on September 8 after workers at Hollywood Tow reported a strong odor coming from the front trunk of the Tesla, which had been impounded after being abandoned for over a month in the Hollywood Hills.

Law enforcement told NBC Investigates that the body was not intact and had been placed inside a bag. The Tesla, which has Texas license plates, was registered to 19-year-old singer-songwriter David Burke, professionally known as D4vd. Officials confirmed the vehicle had not been reported stolen.

Rivas’ mother, speaking to TMZ, said she suspected the body was her daughter’s based on a tattoo described by police — the word “Shhh…” inked on a finger — along with clothing and jewelry found with the remains. The girl was last seen on April 5, 2024, in western Riverside County.

TMZ reported that after receiving a tip about the potential identity of the victim, they passed the information to the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division.

D4vd, currently on tour, is cooperating with law enforcement. A representative for the singer confirmed to multiple outlets that he has been made aware of the situation and is assisting investigators. At the time of the discovery, he was performing in Minneapolis, with a scheduled stop in Kansas City the following day.

Burke, who rose to fame through viral success on TikTok, is signed to Darkroom and Interscope Records under Universal Music Group. UMG referred press inquiries to the artist’s attorney, who has not yet issued a public statement.
