
FIA Islamabad Zone has arrested four accused who kidnapped and tortured citizens while extorting money from them on the pretext of jobs in Cambodia.
The accused used to send the young job seekers to Cambodia, then kidnapped them and torture them to collect extra money from their families. The FIA spokesperson said that four accused involved in torturing citizens on the pretext of jobs in Cambodia have been arrested in raids in different areas. The accused are namely Ali Haider, Sameen Hayat, Umar Farooq and Muzammil Khan Sham. The accused were arrested from Rawalpindi, Talagang and Islamabad.
The arrested accused had extorted millions of rupees from citizens on the pretext of jobs in Cambodia. They collected Rs800,000 to 100,000 each by forcing the citizens to do jobs for them in the computer and IT fields. They transferred the said amounts from the victims to the bank.
When citizens reached Cambodia, the accused took the hostage and proceeds to torture them through accomplices, forcing them to do jobs for them. This included making fraudulent calls to call centres for 20 to 21 hours. The scheme led to the accused accumulating huge sums of money which the victims were forced to send back to Pakistan.
An investigation has been initiated against the accused. Raids are being conducted to arrest their accomplices as well.
