Man murders brother for land

A man axed to death his younger brother over a land dispute in a village near here. The victim's wife was also severely injured in the attack.

Muhammad Ashiq, aged 32, was killed and his wife Sobia Bibi injured. The injured woman told the police that she had been married to the victim for nine years and they had two children.

The family members were sleeping at night in the courtyard of their home when Muhammad Asif, the elder brother of the deceased who had a land dispute with him, picked up an axe and attacked him, she stated.

The victim's neck was slashed and he died on the spot. Sobia added that she was also attacked by her brother-in-law, leaving her forehead and eye injured.

The complainant stated that her father was also sleeping in a room in the house when the attack tok place and the lights in the courtyard were on.

After the murder, the suspect attempted to flee with the blood-stained axe.
