Three young boys attempting to save their livestock were swept away by the strong currents in Hayatpur Mehtla area on Tuesday.
Rescue 1122 received the alert through its control room and immediately dispatched a team from its Hayatpur command post. The boys were identified as Noman, 12, Asad, 13, and Arshad, 10.
The rescue team managed to pull all three children out of the water alive and unharmed. Officials confirmed their condition was stable and they have been handed over to their families.
Early on Tuesday morning, around 5:00am, a major breach occurred at Jhok Janan embankment in Lodhran, submerging several villages including Jhok Janan, Hayatpur, Murad, Sediwala, and Peepalwala.
Rescue 1122 has deployed 25 personnel with four boats to carry out relief operations across the flood-affected areas.
District Emergency Officer Engineer Shakeel Ahmed said the rescue operation would continue until the last stranded person is moved to safety.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Lubna Nazir praised the Rescue 1122 team for their timely action in saving the lives of the three boys.
Meanwhile, students in Lodhran donated their pocket money to help children affected by recent floods.
Students of a private school pooled their savings and visited a relief camp set up at Degree College Lodhran's tent city. There, they distributed gift packs among flood-affected children, which included various food items and treats.
The initiative was led by students Muhammad Ali Amir, Muhammad Hassan Amir and Mustafa Mahmood, who saved money from their daily allowances to bring smiles to children facing hardship. Speaking on the occasion, students Ahsan Amir and Mustafa Mahmood said they wanted the flood-affected children to know they were not alone during this difficult time. "We wish to share our happiness with them," Ali said.
