ISLAMABAD:

China and Pakistan will continue to deepen their ties within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and implement the outcomes of the Tianjin Summit.

"Together, we can help build a closer SCO community with a shared future and contribute to the prosperity and development of the Global South," Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong said in an interview on Tuesday.

He said with both countries committed to fostering multilateralism, peace, and regional integration, their continued collaboration within the SCO promises to play a critical role in shaping a more stable and prosperous global future.

Jiand also emphasized the importance of China and Pakistan's shared history in resisting imperialism and their united commitment to maintaining international fairness and justice.

Both nations, he said, are determined to contribute to global peace and development, with China's rise as a global power dedicated to peace serving as a stabilizing force in today's geopolitics.

As both China and Pakistan continue to work together within the SCO, Ambassador Jiang expressed optimism about the future of their cooperation.

The Tianjin summit, held from August 31 to September 1, was the largest in SCO history, with over 20 world leaders attending, including Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Ambassador Jiang praised the summit's significant outcomes, including the creation of new security centers, the establishment of an SCO development bank, and the announcement of major financial initiatives.

China pledged 100 "small and beautiful" livelihood projects for member states, including billions in aid and loans, as well as a commitment to provide thousands of training opportunities.

Jiang emphasized China's leadership under President Xi Jinping, who outlined a series of ambitious plans to foster cooperation and enhance the development of member nations.

"The summit was a grand finale to the 'China Year' of the SCO," Jiang said, highlighting the event's role in pushing the SCO to a new stage of development.

"It was a gathering of unity, friendship, and fruitful outcomes, setting the foundation for greater collaboration and achievements in the future."

Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif, who attended the summit in Tianjin, praised the event as a vital platform for regional cooperation and integration.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan's strong support for China's leadership, stating that the SCO, under China's guidance, remains essential for advancing peace, progress, and prosperity in the region.

The interview also focused on President Xi Jinping's Global Governance Initiative, which gained significant attention at the "SCO Plus" meeting.

Ambassador Jiang emphasized that the initiative is a key pillar of China's approach to reforming global governance and promoting a more just and equitable world order.
