A young man injured in a stabbing incident in the Glass Factory area of Waris Khan Police Station has succumbed to his injuries.
According to police, complainant Noman Munir reported that he and his cousin, Samad, were near their home when an 18-year-old unidentified youth entered a nearby paan shop and began arguing with the shopkeeper, using abusive language. Noman and Samad asked him not to use foul language in a residential area, which led to an altercation. The youth then called two accomplices, and all three assaulted the cousins. During the fight, they attacked both with knives, injuring them before fleeing.
Police registered a case of attempted murder against the three suspects. However, Samad, who was critically injured, later died during treatment at the hospital. The case has now been converted into a murder investigation, and raids are underway to arrest the culprits.
Rumours circulated that the murder was linked to a dispute over 10 rupees, but a police spokesperson clarified that the incident stemmed from an exchange of abuses at the paan shop. He confirmed that the case was registered on the statement of the injured complainant, while efforts to apprehend the accused are ongoing.
