ISLAMABAD:

The court has sought a progress report from the Ministry of Interior, the ANF and the police on the steps taken to eradicate drugs from educational institutions from January to September 2025.

The Interior Ministry officials said that an awareness campaign has been launched in schools following the court order.

Justice Inam Amin Minhas remarked that awareness alone will not work, and that students must be monitored to prevent drug abuse. "Children's lunch boxes will have to be checked to ensure that nothing is coming from outside," he instructed.

He also heard the application of Lucky Foundation for the eradication of drugs from educational institutions in Islamabad.

Islamabad Police submitted a progress report from January 1 to April 22, 2025, according to which 255kg of heroin and 126kg of hashish were seized from different areas of Islamabad, and a total of 689 drug cases were registered, and 709 suspects were arrested in the past four months.

DSP Legal said that the slogan of Islamabad Police has also been issued regarding the eradication of drugs. The court said that the slogan is already known by the whole of Pakistan, and that more practical steps have to be taken.

Moreover, the organisation of private schools, Pira's lawyer has issued a direction for the eradication of drugs. The court adjourned the hearing, seeking a more detailed report on the eradication of drugs from the Ministry of Interior, ANF and the police within two weeks.
