The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards will broadcast live tonight, Sunday, September 7, at 8/7c, with multiple ways for viewers to tune in.
For the first time, CBS will air the awards show, while MTV will simulcast the event from New York City’s UBS Arena.
For cord-cutters, Paramount+ offers streaming options. Premium plan subscribers can stream the VMAs live through their local CBS feed or on demand. Essential plan subscribers will gain access to the show beginning Monday, September 8. Additional streaming services that carry MTV, such as FuboTV, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, and Sling TV’s Blue package, will also stream the ceremony.
The evening begins with the MTV Video Music Awards Pre-Show at 7/6c, hosted by Kevan Kenney and Nessa. LL Cool J will serve as the main host of the VMAs.
This year’s Video Vanguard Award will go to Mariah Carey, while performers include YUNGBLUD, Nuno Bettencourt, and Aerosmith members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, who will honor Ozzy Osbourne with a special tribute.
Lady Gaga leads the nominations with 12, followed closely by Bruno Mars with 11 and Kendrick Lamar with 10. ROSÉ and Sabrina Carpenter earned eight nominations each, while Ariana Grande and The Weeknd received seven apiece. Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are both nominated for Artist of the Year, and a win for either would break their tie at 30 career VMAs. Swift is not expected to attend, while Beyoncé’s appearance remains uncertain.
The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards air live Sunday, September 7, at 8/7c on CBS, MTV, and Paramount+.
