Drew Barrymore has revealed that one of her daughters was hospitalised following an e-bike accident in France. The actor and talk show host discussed the incident during her appearance on Late Night with Stephen Colbert on September 4.

Barrymore, who shares two daughters, Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10, with ex-husband Will Kopelman, explained that the accident disrupted her plans to meet with Colbert’s wife, Evelyn.

“The last time we were supposed to get together, my daughter ended up having an accident,” she told the host. She quickly reassured the audience, adding, “She’s fine. My daughter actually got in an e-bike accident. In France, which sounds so fabulous. Yes, so we were in fabulous France and then she had an e-bike accident.”

Although the family faced a scare, Barrymore described her daughter’s quick thinking in handling the situation. “She was like a mile out in the mountains and ripped her whole elbow open. We spent days in an E.R. in and out,” she said. “But she ripped off her bra and turned it into a tourniquet.”

The Drew Barrymore Show host credited her daughter for the presence of mind, saying, “That’s just who she is. And I just marvel at her.”

Colbert remarked that Barrymore must have influenced her daughter’s resourcefulness, but the actor responded modestly, hoping to be “that cool.”

Barrymore has spoken openly in the past about raising her daughters, including how her 2016 divorce left her determined to provide stability for them.

In an earlier appearance on Colbert’s show, she described Olive and Frankie as her “North Star” and “compass.”
