Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP), Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, has issued show-cause notices to 11 officers over poor performance, imposed a ban on unregistered motorcycles, and directed zero tolerance against illegal arms, aerial firing, and narcotics.
According to an official statement, the IGP reviewed the performance of field officers during a meeting with SDPOs and SHOs. He stressed strict enforcement of security measures to protect citizens' lives and property, warning that negligence in curbing illegal weapons and drug-related crimes would not be tolerated.
Rizvi ordered intensified action under the "Nasha Ab Nahi" campaign, immediate arrests of proclaimed offenders, and the use of Safe City's Hunt Lab and Sky software to identify and dismantle criminal gangs. He also directed monitoring of SHO response time on emergency calls, stronger night patrolling, and the holding of open courts to address public complaints. Issues raised through Pukaar-15, the IG Complaint Cell (1715), and the Women's Helpline (1815) must be resolved promptly, he added.
The IGP instructed police stations to adopt modern software for operations, patrolling, and crime record management.
Dolphin patrolling plans will be prepared in consultation with senior officers, with Rizvi personally reviewing squad performance weekly. Foolproof security arrangements for Rabiul Awwal events were also ordered, alongside meetings with organizers.
Rizvi emphasized accountability within the force, making clear that outstanding performance would be rewarded while negligence would face disciplinary action. The SDPOs of Kohsar, Margalla, Ramna, and Bhara Kahu were served notices, while explanations were sought from Shahzad Town and I-9. SHOs of Aabpara, Kohsar, Women, Ramna, Sabzi Mandi, Noon, Phulgran, and Bani Gala police stations also received notices.
In recognition of good performance, SDPO Golra was awarded a commendation letter and Rs100,000, while SHO Sumbal was given Rs50,000 along with a CC-I award. The IGP further directed SPs to hold weekly press briefings for public awareness and urged officers to perform their duties in the spirit of public service.
