Minorities to join Eid Milad procession

In a show of interfaith unity, the Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Sikh and Parsi communities will come together to lead the 51st annual Jashan Milad, a major, central procession, on 12 Rabiul Awwal In the oldest area of the District Council Sihal.

The preparations for the procession have already been completed. Allama Pir Syed Ajmal Hussain Mubashir Shah Hamdani and Sajjada Nashin of Astana Alia Meera Sharif will preside and lead the procession.

The central markets of Sihal, mosques, Imambargahs have been decorated like a bride for the occasion. Stages have been set up at different places where awards, shields and cups will be given to the best reciter of Na'at. Glasses of sweet milk, cold drinks and langar khana will be served as refreshments along the way. The central Milad procession will start at 9am and will pass through the designated routes throughout the day and will reach its end in the evening.

The tradition of this particular Milad procession first started in 1974 by Pir Syed Ahmed Shah Mervi, a religious figure from Sihal.

Today, his children have taken over his responsibilities of hosting the procession.

Federal Parliamentary Secretary Asfan Yar Bhandara said, "Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the Prophet, Guide and Mercy of the Universe for all. He is the helper of everyone. All of us minorities, will participate in the Milad celebration with full zeal."
