Ubisoft has confirmed that work is underway on the future of Rayman, with teams at Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan collaborating on new projects. The announcement was made in a video posted to the official Rayman social media account as part of the character’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

The studios stated they are “currently working together on the future of Rayman” but advised that updates will not be shared in the near term.

In October 2024, reports from Insider Gaming suggested that development had already begun on a Rayman remake, operating under the codename “Steambot”. Sources indicated that progress on the project has been “incredibly well” and that it is aiming for a tentative release in late 2026.

Beyond the remake, Ubisoft is also considering Rayman 4. According to early planning, the project’s production will depend on the success of Steambot, with any release likely to be scheduled closer to the end of the decade.

The last mainline entry in the franchise was Rayman Legends, released in 2013, with more recent appearances limited to mobile platforms such as Rayman Mini.

If the 2026 release window holds, Rayman could join an extensive slate of Ubisoft titles planned for 2026 and 2027. These include Project Ovr (a new Ghost Recon), Project Hexe (a mainline Assassin’s Creed), Project North (Splinter Cell remake), Project Blackbird (a new Far Cry), Project Maverick (a Far Cry extraction shooter), Project Rewind (Prince of Persia remake), Project Crest (a WW2 extraction shooter), and Project BG&E2 (Beyond Good and Evil 2).

Additional projects, such as an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake (Project Obsidian) and multiplayer spinoff (Project Invictus), are currently undated but remain in development. Ubisoft also has longer-term plans for The Division 3 and new instalments in The Crew franchise.
