After a three-month summer break, all public and private schools from nursery to class 8 reopened on Monday in Rawalpindi district, restoring academic activities and bringing life back to campuses.
Parents expressed relief as children's daily routines return to normal, though traffic congestion near major schools has once again become a common sight.
In flood-hit areas, deputy commissioners will decide whether to reopen schools.
However, in Rawalpindi division - including Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum - all institutions have resumed classes.
In Murree and Kotli Sattian, schools follow a winter break schedule from December 25 to February 28 instead of summer vacations.
Higher classes (9th, 10th, first year, and second year) had already reopened on August 15.
The Education Department has also announced new school timings effective from September 1 with single-shift schools operating from 7:30am to 1pm.
Double-shift schools will run from 7:30am to 1pm in the morning and 2pm to 6pm in the afternoon, with shorter hours on Fridays.
Meanwhile, pick-and-drop transporters have raised fares between Rs500 and Rs1,500 depending on distance, adding financial strain for parents.
