The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Peshawar has issued bailable arrest warrants for five police officials, including a Station House Officer (SHO), over non-compliance in two separate cases. The court also ordered the attachment of a sub-inspector's salary for failing to appear.
During the hearing of a narcotics case related to Sarband Police Station, ATC Judge Muhammad Iqbal Khan noted that key witnesses, SHO Shakirullah, ASI Siddiqullah, Constable Sajid, Sepoy Zartaj Gul, Constable Tariq, and Inspector Fazal Rabbi, did not appear before the court, preventing their testimonies from being recorded. The court subsequently issued bailable arrest warrants for them and directed their production before the court by September 15.
In another narcotics case registered at Tatara Police Station, the court expressed displeasure over the absence of Sub-Inspector Ayaz Ali, who was also summoned as a prosecution witness. The judge ordered that his salary be withheld until further notice, instructing the police lines' pay officer to ensure compliance.
On the other hand, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Prosecution Department has directed all district courts, including Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs), to provide complete case details from 2020 to 2025.
According to official sources, the department has sought records of convictions, acquittals, bail releases, pending trials, and disposed cases. A proforma has been circulated to all public prosecutors across the province, instructing them to submit district-wise data on the nature of cases and the number of trials conducted during this period.
The prosecutors have also been asked to specify how many accused were acquitted, granted bail, or awarded sentences in different cases.
