Saturday Night Live is preparing for its 51st season with notable cast changes as several performers confirm their departure from the NBC late-night sketch series. Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker and Emil Wakim are among those leaving, with further announcements expected.

Reactions from fellow cast members and alumni have circulated widely on social media. Bowen Yang responded to Longfellow’s post announcing his exit by referencing one of the comedian’s past Weekend Update jokes, writing, “Jesus WAS Chinese. I love you Michael.” Marcello Hernández added, “love bro, thank you for letting me cfb whenever, my roommate.”

Chloe Fineman reacted to Wakim’s exit by commenting, “You’re such a star and I’ll miss sitting next to the best-dressed man at table read.” Wakim had only joined the show in season 50 as a featured player.

Former cast members and guest stars also shared their thoughts. Molly Shannon, who appeared on SNL earlier in the year, praised Longfellow’s run, saying, “You RULE Michael. So honored and happy to have gotten to meet you and work with you.”

Comedian Hannah Einbinder added, “Michael, you are one of the funniest comedians I know! I love you my pal.”

Chris Redd, another former cast member, congratulated Longfellow by writing, “Congrats! You made it to the other side!” Meanwhile, stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser told Wakim, “You made a mark on that show that will not be forgotten.”

The exits have prompted speculation among fans about how the cast reshuffle will shape season 51.

With SNL’s long history of transitions, the upcoming season will highlight a new mix of performers while the departing comedians begin their next ventures.
