The long-awaited Injustice 3 may have been accidentally revealed after comments from two key DC voice actors sparked excitement among fans.
Phil LaMarr, who voices John Stewart’s Green Lantern, and George Newbern, best known as the voice of Superman, both hinted at the sequel during recent fan conventions.
LaMarr reportedly told a fan in Houston, while signing an Injustice 2 steelbook, that “they’re making another one, they’re doing Injustice 3.” Around the same time, Newbern mentioned he was “currently working on Injustice 3” when speaking with another fan. These remarks quickly spread across social media, with many treating them as the first credible confirmation that the franchise is returning.
The last entry, Injustice 2, released in 2017 to critical and commercial success. Developed by NetherRealm Studios, it combined DC superheroes and villains with the studio’s trademark fighting mechanics, best known from the Mortal Kombat series. Since then, NetherRealm has shifted its focus to Mortal Kombat 11 (2019) and Mortal Kombat 1 (2023), leaving fans uncertain about the future of the Injustice franchise.
The timing of the leak suggests development is well underway. Voice recording typically occurs in the mid-stages of production, aligning with NetherRealm’s established pattern of alternating between Mortal Kombat and Injustice releases. With DC’s new leadership under James Gunn and Peter Safran aiming to strengthen its multimedia presence, the return of Injustice could play a major role in their broader strategy for DC games.
If confirmed, Injustice 3 would enter a competitive fighting game market currently dominated by Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6, potentially reigniting interest in superhero fighting titles.
