Chucklefish’s upcoming life simulation game Witchbrook is set for release in Winter 2025. The game was officially showcased during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct, confirming its arrival on PC, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.
Other platforms remain unconfirmed, with PlayStation 5 still listed as “TBD” on the official site.
Set in the seaside city of Mossport, players take on the role of an aspiring witch enrolled at Witchbrook College. Gameplay involves attending magical classes, developing abilities through assignments, and progressing through the academic year as seasons change.
Activities include alchemy, potion brewing, rituals, and divination, with one dev blog noting that players can learn tarot card reading by day and study the constellations by night to provide advice to townspeople.
Outside of studies, players can customise cottages, cultivate gardens, and explore Mossport. The town is populated with characters who each follow their own schedules, from professors to shopkeepers, with opportunities for friendships and romance.
Confirmed datable characters include Hana Sato, a fashion-focused student, and Eli Ivers, a journalist working on campus.
The game also supports four-player online co-op, with options ranging from broom races to casual coffee outings in Mossport cafés. This feature is expected to appeal to fans seeking both single-player and shared experiences.
Witchbrook has been in development since 2017, with Chucklefish first outlining its vision in 2019. After years of limited updates, the 2025 showcase provided the first extended look at gameplay, including home customisation and town events. With a release window now confirmed, anticipation remains high as players await a final date.
