ISLAMABAD:

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has launched Pakistan's largest nursery in the capital, a 50-acre project nearing completion that will house over one million plants. Officials say the landmark initiative will not only meet Islamabad's horticultural needs but also help curb smog and improve the city's environment.

During his visit to the CDA Model Nursery on Park Road, the minister inspected ongoing development work, reviewed the master plan, and visited the newly constructed rainwater harvesting pond within the facility. "An international-standard, state-of-the-art model nursery is being established in Islamabad," Naqvi said, adding that it would not only meet the horticultural requirements of residents but also play a crucial role in improving the city's environment.

He announced that a dedicated flower shop and a horticulture training institute would also be established within the nursery, and directed CDA staff to undergo professional training in plant care and maintenance to ensure long-term sustainability of the project.

Naqvi appreciated the contribution of Azerbaijani horticulture experts assisting with the project and commended their expertise. Officials informed him that 25,000 free plants had already been distributed during this year's monsoon season.
