Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has introduced a new classroom dress code for his players as part of his approach to instill discipline both on and off the field. The policy, first reported by Fox News, prohibits slides, hoodies, and headphones during class sessions.

Sanders also set additional rules, requiring players not to sit in the back row of classes and to maintain proper attire during online lectures. For virtual sessions, shirts must be worn, and players are not allowed to walk around while logged in.
In a video posted by his son, Deion Sanders Jr., the coach emphasized his expectations: “If I see you in slides on campus, we’re going to have a problem. If I see you with a hoodie on in class, with headphones on in class, it’s going to be a problem. If I see you sitting in the back of the classroom, it’s going to be a problem.”
Sanders’ stance drew mixed reactions online. Some questioned his comments about hoodies since he often wears them himself, though others suggested he meant hoods should not be worn over players’ heads. Supporters praised the move, with one social media user writing, “Deion isn’t just molding these players to be better football players. He’s molding them to be better men.” Another added, “The best coaches expect excellence in all aspects of life. Great coaches are a gift.”
Sanders, now entering his third season with Colorado, has consistently emphasized accountability as a cornerstone of his coaching philosophy. The Buffaloes are looking to improve on their 9-4 record from 2024. However, they will do so without two key stars—Heisman winner Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, both now in the NFL.
