Unidentified armed terrorists blew up a government high school in Lower South Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.
According to details, the attack took place in the Azam Warsak area, where explosives were used to destroy the school building. Local sources said that a day earlier, an organisation calling itself "Fidayan-e-Islam" had issued threats to students and circulated a pamphlet warning schools to expel them.
On Saturday night unidentified terrorists planted an improvised explosive device in the building which went off with a big bang, causing widespread panic in the area and destroying the building.
Police registered an FIR and started investigation in the case.
On the other hand, a powerful explosion destroyed a small bridge in Lower South Waziristan on Sunday, officials said.
According to police sources, the blast occurred beneath the bridge on the Azam Zalai Road when unidentified terrorists detonated an IED using a remote control. The bridge was completely demolished in the attack.
This is the fourth such incident in the past three days in which militants have targeted bridges in the region with explosives.
