Celine Dion has paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne in a heartfelt Instagram post following his funeral procession in Birmingham, confirming a lesser-known connection between the two music legends.

Dion noted she and Osbourne once shared the same record label and said she developed a deep respect for his artistry over the years.

She wrote: “I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy and I were label mates for many years – and although we came from very different musical universes, I always admired his boundless spirit and ear for melody on songs like ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’. He was a true original! Fearless, and simply larger than life... but also kind, thoughtful and generous.”

Osbourne, who died on July 22 at age 76 after battling health issues, was honoured with a public procession through Birmingham, where he was laid to rest.

His family, including wife Sharon and their children Aimee, Kelly and Jack, paid tribute at the Black Sabbath bridge and memorial bench, where thousands had left floral arrangements.

Dion is among several music icons who have commemorated Osbourne’s life, including Sir Elton John and members of Metallica, all praising his impact across musical genres.

While Dion and Osbourne belonged to the same label, they operated in vastly different musical worlds—her signature powerful ballads and his pioneering heavy metal legacy. Yet her message underscores his versatility and influence beyond genre boundaries.

Some fans noted the significance of Dion referencing their shared label history, as it illustrates the interconnectedness of the music industry across styles and generations.

Her tribute, alongside others’, reflects a collective grief and respect from artists across diverse arenas.

With his final farewell unfolding in the city he once longed to return to, tributes from peers such as Celine Dion reinforce Osbourne’s widespread influence and the esteem in which he was held by fellow musicians.
