Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate have unveiled the first trailer for Twinless, a dark comedy drama starring Dylan O’Brien and James Sweeney.

The film made its debut at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award and generated buzz for its emotional depth and darkly humorous take on grief and friendship.

Directed and co-written by Sweeney, Twinless follows two strangers who meet at a twin bereavement support group. As they process the loss of their siblings, the two men—played by Sweeney and O’Brien—form an intense, brother-like bond. However, their friendship soon reveals hidden secrets, some of which threaten to unravel their connection. The film explores themes of identity, trauma, and chosen family.

Sweeney, known for his critically acclaimed debut Straight Up, returns with his signature blend of queer storytelling and offbeat comedy. The cast also features Lauren Graham, Aisling Franciosi, Chris Perfetti, Tasha Smith, Francois Arnaud, Susan Park, and Cree Cicchino. O’Brien also serves as an executive producer on the project.

Developed by Republic Pictures, Twinless sold its domestic distribution rights to Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate following its Sundance premiere. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions acquired international rights.

Twinless will hit theaters across North America on September 5, 2025.
