Reality TV star Teddi Mellencamp and her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave experienced an attempted burglary at their Encino home in Los Angeles on Monday night, according to TMZ.

Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ that two suspects tried to access the couple’s property while they were inside. The incident triggered the home’s advanced security system, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Although police arrived quickly, the suspects had already fled the scene.

The attempted break-in occurred shortly after the suspects reportedly burglarized a neighboring home, making the incident even more unsettling. Mellencamp, 44, and Arroyave, 48, later confirmed the event in a joint statement to TMZ, saying, “We are grateful that everyone is unharmed. While we are shaken, we are fortunate to have the latest in home security systems, which scared off the intruders. Authorities were alerted and swiftly responded.”

An insider echoed the couple’s sentiments, telling Page Six, “Thankfully, their security system worked, the police got there quickly and the perpetrators ran away.”

The incident comes during a difficult time for Mellencamp, who is currently battling stage 4 melanoma that has spread to her brain. Despite their ongoing divorce, Arroyave has remained supportive throughout her cancer treatment.

Mellencamp filed for divorce from Arroyave in November 2024 after 13 years of marriage. The couple shares three children: Slate, 12; Cruz, 10; and Dove, 5. Arroyave also has an older daughter, Isabella, from a previous relationship. While Mellencamp has been romantically linked to another person since filing, Arroyave’s current relationship status remains unknown.

The attempted burglary adds to rising concerns about increased criminal activity in the Encino area, where several high-profile residents have recently been targeted.
