An armed clash between two groups of the Khorkhani caste, over a piece of land, claimed three lives in Priyalo, Khairpur district, on Monday. Police identified the slain individual as Aanda Khorkhani; his son Muhammad Ramazan Khorkhani, along with Muhammad Ali Khorkhani alias Majju, succumbed to their injuries in a local government hospital.
Reportedly, the incident occurred in the village of Gul Muhammad Khorkhani, located in the district's riverbed area. A day before the bloody brawl, one of the two sides registered a complaint against the other at Wada Machiyoon police station. On Monday, the confrontation occurred, during the harvest of dates, on a piece of agricultural land.
On the same day, a man allegedly murdered his wife in the name of honour in a village located in the Rustam area of Shikarpur district. The suspect, identified as Ramazan Atrani, reportedly accused his wife, Muradi Atrani, of bringing him dishonour before taking her life.
Disturbingly, Muradi's body was later buried without proper funeral rites, raising further alarm among her relatives.
Her family subsequently approached the police and lodged a formal complaint, prompting the authorities to launch an investigation into the suspected honour killing.
Meanwhile, the accused, Ramazan Atrani, has gone into hiding and remains at large as police continue efforts to trace his whereabouts.
