LAHORE:

The Crime Control Department (CCD) of Lahore police claimed the death of six robbers in encounters over the past 24 hours.

In Chung, six armed men were reportedly committing a home robbery when CCD teams arrived at the scene. A fierce exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the death of three robbers, all of whom had extensive criminal records, officials of the department stated.

The deceased suspects were identified as Shahbaz Pervaiz, Aqib and Yaseen Odh.

Another alleged encounter took place in the jurisdiction of Kotwali CCD, where one suspect was killed during a shootout with the police.

In Shahdara, CCD operatives were acting on a tip-off when they were confronted by armed suspects. In the ensuing gun battle, a wanted criminal identified as Mukhtar alias Mukhtara was shot dead.

The final encounter occurred near Ring Road in the Model Town police division, where a CCD team launched a raid following intelligence reports. Upon seeing the police, the suspects opened fire, prompting retaliatory fire in which suspected robber Haroon was killed. He, too, was a known offender with a history of criminal activity.

Police official said all deceased suspects were recorded offenders, involved in multiple armed robberies, burglaries and other heinous crimes across Lahore and surrounding districts.
