At a recent Coldplay concert in Madison, Wisconsin, frontman Chris Martin took a playful swipe at recent headlines by warning the audience ahead of the show’s Kiss Cam moment.
Martin addressed the crowd with a lighthearted tone, saying, “We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd… we’re going to use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen. So please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.”
@sonia.gogan Coldplay Chris Martin did not mention the CEO at the Madison show following Boston last week. He did give much of a warning to fans, and reccomended they do their makeup if they haven’t already… makes me wonder why the CEO and CPO thought maybe we shouldn’t hug right now.. #coldplay #coldplayconcert #madisonwisconsin #uwmadison #coldplayaffair #affair #astronomerceo

The remark was met with laughter and eased any lingering tension.
The comment comes just days after a now-viral incident at the band’s concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where a couple, later identified as former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR chief Kristin Cabot, were caught on the Kiss Cam looking visibly awkward.
Martin had jokingly remarked, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy,” sparking widespread speculation and backlash online.
Following the incident, Astronomer placed both executives on leave and launched an internal investigation. Andy Byron resigned shortly afterward, amid mounting pressure and viral discourse across social media.
Notably, during the Madison show, the band chose not to highlight any couples on screen, seemingly avoiding a repeat of the earlier media frenzy.
Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour continues through September, with the band keeping the energy high, and the humor sharp, even as real-world headlines trail their performances.
