ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan has extended the ban on entry of Indian aircraft in Pakistan airspace for another term.

The new restrictions came into effect at 3:20 pm on Friday — July 18 — and will continue till 4:59 am of August 24, according to the Pakistan Standard Time.

According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), the restriction will

apply to all planes registered in India or leased by Indian authorities or airlines.

Pakistan closed its airspace for Indian airlines after escalation of tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations in the wake of the April 22 attack on tourists in Indian occupied Kashmir.

This restriction is causing heavy losses to Indian airlines who now have to take much longer routes to reach various destinations including the Middle East, Europe and the United States.
