Elon Musk weighed in on the controversy surrounding a viral Coldplay concert video featuring Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot, responding to a fake apology circulating online with a single laughing emoji.
His reaction came at a moment when many still believed the apology, written in Byron’s voice was real.

The now-debunked statement, which claimed to express regret over the incident, surfaced just hours after the video began trending.
It was later revealed to have originated from a parody account, with no links to Byron, Cabot, Astronomer, or any official platform.
As of now, no public statements have been issued by Byron, Cabot, or the company in response to the viral clip or the hoax.
However, internet users noted that Byron’s LinkedIn page has been taken down, and all of Cabot’s known social media accounts appear to have been deleted as well.
The situation drew renewed attention when a March 2024 podcast resurfaced in which Cabot spoke about building trust with senior leadership.
Although unrelated to the concert incident, the segment has been widely reshared amid the scrutiny.
Musk’s emoji response remains one of the most prominent public reactions to date, highlighting how quickly misinformation can spread, particularly when amplified by influential figures.
