The PML-N and the JUI-F have reached a mutual understanding regarding a minority seat in the K-P Assembly. Originally set to be decided by a coin toss, the seat will now go to the JUI-F by agreement.
The two parties reached this understanding after a consultation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman.
"Despite being the largest opposition party in the K-P, the PML-N has made this sacrifice to allow unopposed elections, in order to eliminate allegations of vote-buying and horse-trading," said PML-N's Amir Muqam.
The ECP on Tuesday unveiled its order with regard to allocation of reserved seats to various political parties in the K-P Assembly on petitions filed by the PML-N, the ANP and the PTI-Parliamentarians.
According to the written, one women's seat and one minority seat previously allocated to the JUI-F were withdrawn. As a result of the PML-N gaining one additional women's seat, both the JUI-F and the PML-N now have 17 members each, including 9 women and 1 minority member.
One minority seat was to be decided by a coin toss between the two parties.
