Amazon MGM Studios and Hasbro Entertainment are developing a live-action adaptation of My Little Pony, marking the first time the popular animated franchise will appear in a non-animated feature film.

The project has been confirmed by Variety, which notes that the film is currently in early development. No director, cast, or release date has been announced, and plot details remain undisclosed.

This adaptation is part of Hasbro’s broader effort to bring its toy-based properties to major studios, following live-action successes like Transformers and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

My Little Pony debuted in 1982 and has remained culturally relevant through several reboots, including Friendship Is Magic and the 2021 animated film A New Generation. The franchise also continues on Netflix through the Make Your Mark series.

While no creative team has been announced, the film is expected to feature a live-action/CGI hybrid format, in line with similar family-friendly adaptations.

The project has already sparked early buzz across fan communities, with many speculating on how the film might blend nostalgia with new storytelling aimed at today’s younger audiences.

More information from Amazon MGM and Hasbro regarding casting, production schedules, and direction is expected later this year.
