A petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court challenging the issuance of traffic challans for not installing new number plates.
Social activist Faizan Hussain submitted the petition, highlighting that instead of running a public awareness campaign, the traffic police have started issuing heavy fines to motorists.
According to the petitioner, the DIG Traffic had instructed police officers to strictly enforce the installation of new number plates.
However, instead of guiding the public or providing a grace period, the authorities began penalising motorcyclists with heavy fines.
The petition argues that in times of inflation, such fines are becoming a serious burden for ordinary citizens.
