KARACHI:

Many fatalities continue to surface due to domestic violence against women. A tragic incident unfolded in Korangi on July 4, where a woman, Noor Ayesha, was brutally tortured, knocked unconcious then forced to drink acid by her husband and brother-in-law, resulting in her death.

The critically injured woman was rushed to Jinnah Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Police have registered a murder case against the deceased's husband, Muhammad Ayub, and his brother Rafiq. However, both the suspects have acquired bail before arrest.

According to the FIR filed by the victim's father, Ali Akbar, Noor Ayesha had been married to Ayub for seven years and was the mother of two daughters. He accused that Ayub was involved in extramarital affairs, which frequently led to arguments and caused Noor to return to her home.

On the morning of July 4, Ali Akbar received a call informing him that his daughter had been assaulted and forced to ingest acid. Doctors confirmed that she died from an infection caused by the acid ingestion.
