HYDERABAD:

A breach in the Phuleli Canal near Goth Noorai Sharif in the Seri area was finally sealed after more than 24 hours on Tuesday, following delays caused by local resistance. Police assistance was sought during the repair operation, and water flow in the canal resumed after the breach was sealed.

The breach, measuring over 30 feet wide, developed on Monday due to heavy water pressure, flooding several villages and hundreds of acres of agricultural land.

After the incident, discharge from the Kotri Barrage was halted to begin repair work. However, locals opposed the sealing of the breach until the stagnant floodwater had fully drained back into the canal through the same opening.
