Shakira has stepped up to support Texas flood victims, pledging a portion of her San Antonio concert proceeds to Catholic Charities of San Antonio. The region was devastated by flash floods over the holiday weekend, leaving more than 75 people dead and several missing, according to Reuters.

The Colombian pop star arrived in San Antonio on July 5 for her Las Mujeres No Lloran tour stop at the Alamodome, a rescheduled show following earlier stage issues. Upon landing, she shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing sorrow over the tragedy: “I just landed in San Antonio, and I’m devastated after hearing the news of the floods, the deaths, and the young girls that are still missing.”

Just before taking the stage, the 48-year-old artist posted again, announcing her donation and directing fans to a link where they could contribute to relief efforts. “Dear San Antonio, our hearts and prayers are with those affected by the flood in Central Texas,” she wrote. “We are donating a portion of tonight’s show proceeds to Catholic Charities of San Antonio.”

During the show, Shakira dedicated her performance to the victims, saying, “I want to dedicate this concert to those no longer with us.” A wave of silence swept the crowd as she urged them to hold their loved ones closer and emphasised unity in times of sorrow.

Shakira's swift response to local tragedy highlights her commitment to using her platform for more than entertainment, offering real-time help to those in need.
